Worth every penny

I slung my Versatrek between two doors in my apt as soon as I opened the package. I'm a little top heavy and 263lbs 6'2", so the Versatrek didn't work so well as a chair (I topple out of the back side). But let me tell you, when I laid in it there wasn't a single cry, creak, or groan form it at all. The fit and finish proves that the Versatrek is built as a hammock that can also stow your gear when on the trail. I love my Versatrek, Thank you Trek Light Gear!

Thanks, George! Glad to hear you've been enjoying the VersaTrek!

Great camping accessory

This thing is awesome. I'm a big guy, so unfortunately, it's kinda small as a hammock chair (which is why I bought it), but it works great for my daughters. It will be good as a gear loft, too.

Hey Brian! Glad to hear your family is enjoying the VersaTrek! Hammock on!

Amazing!!!

Even though I use an ultra light tent, I take the gear versatrek gear loft on long distance hikes, because 1, it's super light when you replace the hardware with whoopie slings, 2 It's a great hammock chair so you can get off your feet after putting in the long miles, and 3 I'm very physicaly fit but I'm a big guy at 260 pounds but this thing holds me no problem, despite the small size. I highly recommend this over those "ultra light" camp chairs that weigh a whole pound or more. My hammock chair with whoopies is more like 7oz or less. Wish I would have ordered camo color though.

Ross! Glad to hear you've been enjoying your VersaTrek. Hammock on!

Love them, got one to

Love them, got one to hang in my daughter’s room (4 yr old). She loves it, she loves to lay and look out her window while she plays with her books. Got the other to use as ultra lite trail chair( rigid with 1/2in. mule tape) and gear loft in camp.

The VersaTrek is a great

The VersaTrek is a great accessory for hammock camping. I'm lazy so I just hang it from the ends of the same straps I use to hang my hammock, so my backback sometimes feels like it's laying next to me, but in it's own hammock. It even fits inside the bug net. I haven't used it as a chair yet, but I'm sure I will.

Small but perfect

Trek Light does a solid job of describing this, but make sure you read the description when you order this. The hammock itself is about 5' long but that doesn't mean a 5' tall person can use it, the usuable area is much smaller because of how hammocks bunch up at the end. But that's all good because you shouldn't be getting this expecting to use it as a lie-down hammock - it's got so many more uses than that. I bring it with me on every backpacking trip these days as a gear loft and keep finding new uses for it, it even makes a great football to toss around camp when you're not hanging it (sorry TLG!).

thank goodness I don’t carry

thank goodness I don’t carry 400 lbs of gear, but this little toughie would hold it if I did. It’s a good size for a chair or gear loft and I plan to use it for both. Now if I could just get my greyhound to get in it!

"Really versatile"

I bought one of these about 8 months ago, just for the heck of it at the same time I was buying a hammock. I figured it would be a fun little baby hammock to play around with. It turned out to be one of the coolest little pieces of camp equipment that I have.

First of all, it is so light and small that it costs almost nothing to just throw in my pack or carabineer onto it. The first time I set this up at camp it kinda looked too small to be of any use for anything except a little bit of gear, but once I spread it out it was actually bigger than it looked. Then I sat in it like a chair, and it actually was not too bad. After a little adjusting, I got fairly comfortable in it. Then I snuggled into it length wise with my feet propped up on the suspension rope like a recliner kind of set up. It was really pretty comfortable. (Note, I am about 6' 2"ン and 230 LBS)

Soon a little group of younger kids were gathered around wanting their turn. They all love it and continue to love it on every family or boy scout campout that I bring it out on. This was a great purchase and I have never regretted it. (One note, I did change the suspension from the stock factory suspension for a DIY whoopee sling suspension (google it if you want to know more) because I do that for all my hammocks, not because of any fault of the original suspension.)
