Founder's Corner

Hey friends.

“Overwhelmed” was our theme of the week, how about you?

It started with a Monday holiday, so the kids were home from school. Then on Wednesday our daycare was closed for a power outage, and the work kept piling up for us.

If you’ve got little kids, you get it. You're trying to be productive and manage your own stress, while simultaneously diffusing arguments, providing endless snacks, or the absolute hardest for me to ignore: “Dad, will you play with me?”

It’s everything I love about parenting, but it’s also a lot. And this week, it added up.

When the overwhelm hits a peak for me, I try to remember the bright spots in the week that I’m forgetting in the moment. Sometimes I even have to open up my photo gallery to remind myself what they were. But they’re always there.

And this week it was this: we took the kids skiing for the first time.

Watching them get over the fear, falling, getting back up, and seeing the smiles. All the memories of my parents teaching me to ski came flooding back.

And last night, after everyone was asleep, I stood in the kitchen for a minute, and let the week settle.

The overwhelmed feeling and stress was still there, piling up as the week went on.

But so was that image of them coming down the hill, grinning. Hearing them yell “I want to go again!!” Along with the memory of them excitedly calling my parents to tell them they went skiing, and feeling it all come full circle for me.

A little light in a hard week was all I needed to feel it all wash away.

So that’s what I’m bringing to you this week.

If you’ve been carrying a lot, mentally, emotionally, or financially, you’re certainly not alone. And if tonight all you do is stand in your kitchen for 30 quiet seconds and breathe, that’s enough.

Look back through your photos or your memories, and find your rose from the week.

It’s always brighter than the thorns.

What We're Listening To

The Americana Dream
Maygen & The Birdwatcher

This was a really fun one to discover.

Maygen left a comment on one of our Instagram posts recently, and reached out about potentially working together to make custom merch for her band, Maygen & The Birdwatcher.

Naturally, the very first thing I did was bring up their music and start listening. And bam, I knew within a few seconds that I had found something special.

Here’s what Glide Magazine had to say:

“On their new song “Feel Good,” the versatile musicians deliver top-notch musicianship that evokes comparisons to the likes of Tedeschi Trucks Band, Lake Street Dive, and Alison Krauss and Union Station.“

I take my music recommendations pretty seriously, so I wasn’t expecting an Instagram comment to lead to my next music share here. But take a listen, and you’ll quickly see why.

**

This was a great reminder that I’d love to hear more music suggestions from you - share your own music, or tell me your favorite under-the-radar band or solo artist that more people should know about.

And remember, if you need any custom merch or products for your brand, band, company, non-profit, or anywhere in between...you know where to find us!

From Our Table To Yours

"Healthy" Banana Bread

We make this almost weekly at our house these days.

Our kids eat a lot of bananas, and it’s the perfect way to use up the overripe ones sitting on the counter.

I love that the recipe uses honey or maple syrup instead of refined white sugar. It’s amazing how little is lost in the substitution. I don’t think I’d even notice a difference, other than how delicious it is, if I didn’t make it myself.

It’s simple, comforting, and just perfectly sweet enough.

Look at that, the bananas are turning black again. I guess I’ll have to make another loaf…

Product Spotlight

PRODUCT DROP!

Four brand new kids and baby hats are now up for preorder, shipping in March & April.

Wild Thing.
Party Animal.
Trout.
Silly Goose.

We had way too much fun designing these.

They’re playful without being cheesy, and tough enough to handle whatever your kids put them through.

We made these in small batches, so fewer than 50 of each size and style will be available.

If you’ve got a Wild Thing, a Party Animal, a Trout lover, or a certified Silly Goose in your life, these hats were made for you. I mean, them. But you’ve gotta buy ‘em.

Quote of the Week

Be Kind.
Bring Joy.
Repeat.
