Celebrating Our 25th Issue!

This is the 25th volume of the Weekly Light, which means I've been writing this for almost half a year so far. Where does the time go?

Let's do a little check-in.

First, some stats about this community we've built together.

Our little corner chat is growing. Every issue I write gets sent to our engaged email & SMS subscribers, and on average ~21,000 of you are opening it and reading every week.

Even more impressive, that number has held steady and has kept climbing week after week. That means you're not getting tired of the weekly cadence, and you're not just deleting these or marking them as spam.

That feels really good.

But here's the thing. That open rate, along with a few wonderful email replies each week, is really the only direct feedback we get from you.

What really stands out is that the comments section at the bottom of every issue is still mostly empty, and I'd love to see you use it more.

Tell us which products you love. Share the music you're listening to, the recipes you're cooking. Send us ideas for what products we should make next. I want to feature more of YOUR content here, so this feels communal instead of a one-way conversation.

And if comments aren't your thing, tag us on Instagram, TikTok, or wherever you share with your people. Snap a photo of a recipe you made or a product you love. We see it.

Everything Heather & I do behind the scenes is about building connection. Whether it's through this weekly chat, or through the products we send out into the world to help you make IRL connections of your own.

I'll keep shining a light. I'll keep writing, and we'll keep sharing and creating, one way or the other.

But on the other end of all that work is you. And if we're going to see this little-brand-that-could keep on growing, it's going to take all of us reflecting that light in every direction possible.

So, to channel Jim Morrison here: "C'mon baby, light my fire."

From Our Table To Yours

Pasta Salad with Roasted Tomatoes

Speaking of community, it's Potluck season. (Spoiler: It's always potluck season)

Every potluck has that one dish that disappears first, and somehow it's almost never the fanciest thing on the table. It's the unassuming bowl that people keep going back to.

Here's one of those.

It holds great at room temp for hours, covers most dietary preferences (sub GF pasta if needed), and gets even better the longer it sits.

Product News

Hats Are Back!

Our hats & kids hats have been selling out as fast as we can get them in stock, and many of you have been eagerly waiting for your preorders to arrive.

We received a big shipment of our hats this week, your preorders are on the way, and almost every style is back in stock right now.

With all the preorders we received, some designs are already close to selling out again though.

So, if you've had your eye on a hat (or a few hats) make sure you grab them now before they sell out again!

What We're Listening To

Thank God We Left The Garden
Jeffrey Martin

For me, sharing music is like recommending a restaurant I just tried for the first time.

I almost never share right away, and I like to go back again before I'd tell anyone to make the drive. I always want to make sure it wasn't just a good first impression, and maybe I just happened to be really hungry.

But, sometimes you're only a few bites in and you're already ready to tell people about it.

This week's music pick is one of those moments.

I can't tell you Jeffrey Martin's bio yet, I haven't dug in on the rest of his catalog, but you can bet I will.

I stumbled into this one, and don't even remember how. But the moment it started playing, I stopped what I was doing and felt that familiar feeling of discovering something new. New for me anyway. It's a feeling I know I'll chase in music, art, and food for the rest of my life.

What can I say and feel about an album I just discovered? A lot it seems, because for me this album stirred up what I love about the entire genre, and music in general.

There's something about a true Songwriter you can hear the moment they begin to play. The way their voice and instrument perfectly compliment each other, it's like hearing their heartbeat outside their body.

I love loud music, and rock music, and everything in between. But there's a magic that happens when you break everything down to a poet and an acoustic instrument, and every lyric is as important as the music behind it. This one ticked all the boxes for me, and sucked me in immediately.

I'll stop rambling, and I hope you enjoy this pick and get to know Jefferey Martin along with me (or tell me everything you can if you already do).

Who felt the same thing I did the moment you hit play?
