Founder's Corner

Hey friends.

I want to do something a little different this week.

Instead of me telling you what's on my mind, I want to hear what's on yours.

When we started this, the whole idea was to build something that felt like a conversation, not just another blog post or an email in your inbox. And you've shown up for that in a way that's been blowing us away. Your email replies, the cooking photos, the music recommendations you're sharing. All of it.

But we also want to make sure this keeps getting better, and the only way to do that is to ask.

So here's what we want to know:

What's been your favorite part of The Weekly Light so far? A recipe you actually made? A song that's still in your rotation? Something from a Founder's Corner that stuck with you?

And just as important: what could we do better? What do you skip? What do you wish we'd do more of? What day of the week do you want this to arrive in your inbox?

To sweeten the deal: leave a comment below with your feedback, a story, a favorite recommendation, really anything, and we'll pick one person to receive a $50 Trek Light gift card.

Just scroll down below until you see see the comment section. Let’s hear from you!

What We're Listening To

The Crux Deluxe
Djo

I'll admit it, I almost skipped this one.

Maybe you’re all cooler than me and already knew this, but Djo is the music project of Joe Keery, who most know as Steve Harrington from Stranger Things.

So when it showed up in my feed, I chalked it up as a novelty. I honestly expected it to sound like Steve Harrington making music, and I guess that wasn't exactly a draw for me.

I put it on while I was working, and then I almost immediately forgot what I was listening to, and just went on enjoying it. Each song has a different enough vibe that I’m pretty sure I thought I was done with Djo, and just riding along with the algorithm on shuffle.

At one point I heard something that grabbed my attention so much that I stopped working to see what I was listening to. This is still Joe Keery? Alright, now I’m paying attention.

I’m about to lay some high praise.

At times, it feels like you’re listening to a lost Beck album, then it’s Daft Punk, Broken Bells, Fleetwood Mac, Taylor Swift, hints of Wilco, and then you reach a song like “Charlie’s Garden” and it feels like maybe the whole album has just been a Beatles fever dream. Like I said, high praise.

And somehow, all the varied influences and genre-bending across every track doesn’t feel jarring, the album just keeps flowing, and surprising.

If that all sounds impossible, I get it. Just press play.

Even more impressive, I learned that Joe plays most of the instruments on his albums, including drums, piano, guitar, bass, and more. Damn Steve Harrington, way to surprise the hell out of me.

Another great reminder to always listen before you skip and just let things play, I almost missed one of my favorite new discoveries in a while.

Let me know what you think...

Product News

I'm going to use this space not to promote a specific product this week, but to talk briefly about our preorders and inventory status. If you’ve been waiting on a preorder, or if you’ve been holding off on ordering something until it’s back in stock, this is for you.

First off, to anyone who’s been waiting patiently for a preorder - thank you.

We’ve had delays. We’ve had inventory get lost by the carrier just as it’s about to arrive at our warehouse. We’ve dealt with everything imaginable, but we’re getting through it!

We’ve got a lot of inventory arriving this week and next (hats & mugs!) that will help fill a lot of pending orders, and more coming right around the corner (blankets and towels!).

Our preorder system has been sending updates, so if you haven’t received an update it’s likely it got caught in your spam filter, or isn’t getting through for some reason. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about the status of your order, we’re always here to help.

We sincerely appreciate your support, and your faith in us while we work to keep up with demand, and tackle every new challenge that comes our way. Onward!

From Our Table To Yours

If you haven't made homemade pizza because you think it's too much work, this recipe is about to change that.

No kneading. No special flour. Just make the dough 1-2 hours ahead, or overnight. The dough is dead simple, and the crust bakes up thick and airy on top with a golden, crispy crunch on the bottom.

Sure, there's arguments to be made for all the different pizza styles and recipes, from Neapolitan to Detroit, and everywhere in between. But there sure is something magical and comforting about a perfectly crisp and doughy pan pizza.

Throw on whatever toppings your family can agree on, and let the oven do the rest. It's become a regular at our house, and you really can't mess it up.

Quote of the Week

"Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you."
