Founder's Corner

Show of hands - who noticed that we didn’t send out a Weekly Light last week?

Hopefully at least some of you did, and sorry to let you down.

When you run a small business like Trek Light, life and business co-exist together, and the last two weeks have been some tough ones on our end. And finally, yesterday, we had to say goodbye to our cat friend Greyson - my best bud, and living, breathing teddy bear for the last 18 years.

18 years. What a run.

Whether you’re a dog person, a cat person, or both, like me - if you know, you know.

What I hadn’t experienced before, though, is the perspective that comes from having a pet live as long as Greyson did.

He came into my life in my 20’s, and I’m now only a few years away from starting my 50’s.

It’s almost impossible for me to wrap my head around all that time together and the amount of change and growth that took place over nearly two decades. For me anyway, Greyson was always an unwavering constant throughout.

Greyson was a legend, the worthy namesake of the cozy blanket we named after him, and a faithful best friend. I’ll avoid using my corner here to do a full on eulogy, or sharing some of the many epic Greyson stories, but I do know that it’d be a worthwhile read if I did.

Hug your pets and loved ones, and join me in raising a toast to Greyson and all the great furry companions out there. It’s such a gift to be able to bond with an animal that trusts and loves you unconditionally, and that stays with you long after they’re gone.

It’s never easy to say goodbye, but it’s always, always, worth it.

I’ve got a lot of catching up on my plate, so I’m going to skip on the recipes, music, and other highlights again this week. We’ll get back into it next week.

Feel free to dig into our archives if you need some inspo or music to listen to, and if you want to buy something without me needing to subtly advertise it to you, you’re awesome - you can do it here.

See you next week.

-Seth
