Founder's Corner

A quick update from last week: the kids pulled through and bounced back fast.

Heather and I somehow stayed standing, no whole-house pink eye for the Habers, thank you very much.

I'll take the small wins where I can get them.

Beyond that, I don't have much of a story for you this week. It’s the kind of week where you realize you've spent most of it answering emails, putting out fires at work and at home (that never stops), making dinner, and trying to figure out what to make for dinner. And repeat.

Running a small business with two little kids means a lot of weeks look like that. A lot of your weeks probably look like that too. The outside world doesn't really see them, and they're not that exciting to write about.

The part that keeps me grounded though, when I stop to notice it, is that we're all still here.

Trek Light is still here. As I’ve written about in the past, I’m still seeing small brands, and bars, and restaurants that I love quietly disappear all the time. And I don't take it for granted that we're not one of them, yet.

It's weeks like this one that can seemingly blend in, but in reality, they’re a reminder that everything is still chugging along.

Whether the week flew by because you were so busy, or because it was just drama-free, I always try to remember to embrace the 'just chugging along' times while they're here. Especially after a week like our last one.

Thanks for being along for the ride with us.

What We're Listening To

Fade Into You
Gregory Alan Isakov + Sylvan Esso

Just released yesterday, this is a dream collab in our world if there ever was one.

It goes without saying that Mazzy Star's original vocal performance from 1993 will never be topped. But, getting this gift of a cover from two of our favorite musicians over 20 years later certainly wasn't on our bingo card.

Listen to it on repeat, or let the Apple/Spotify algorithm take over from here and you'll likely discover a world of great songs and artists from this seed.

From Our Table To Yours

Thai-Inspired Chicken Meatball Soup

A good friend of ours had surgery this week, so we volunteered to drop off a warm dinner to make life a little easier.

Instead of going with a tried-and-tested recipe, we decided to try something completely new. Risky? Well, sometimes you just have to roll the dice in the kitchen. Especially when it's not for you. Juuuust kidding.

We came across this delicious sounding recipe for Thai-Inspired Chicken Meatball Soup, and lucky for us (them) - it was exactly as delicious, and nourishing, as it sounded.

What are some of your go-to "meal train" recipes?

It's one of our favorite ways to show up for a friend in need, and we'd love to hear some new recipes from you in the comments below.

"Home is where I want to be
But I guess I'm already there
I come home, she lifted up her wings
